We are a no-kill organization committed to the humane welfare and well-being of animals in need.
To be a role model animal rescue organization highly regarded for its forward thinking adoption, education, and advocacy programs, as well as its exceptional facilities, staff and volunteers.
Animal Rescue Rhode Island (ARRI) rescues abandoned, abused and surrendered animals without geographic limitation. We nurture them to be adopted as pets in loving homes. ARRI fosters animals by following a no-kill philosophy where no animal is ever euthanized because of time, space, breed, or humanely treatable condition, in an environment which is safe, healthy and loving.
Central to our mission is our steadfast commitment to enlighten and inspire our community as teachers and advocates, supporting animal welfare through humane education.
Through the generosity of devoted, loyal donors, our compassionate team of directors, staff, and trained volunteers works tirelessly every day delivering our promise. We are dedicated to making a difference for the hundreds of homeless animals we save every year and their adoptive families.
In 1938, a handful of concerned citizens recognized the need for a humane organization dedicated to the protection and care of stray, abandoned, and abused animals. They founded the Animal Rescue League of Southern Rhode Island (ARLSRI), establishing themselves as a non-profit organization in 1970. Now known as Animal Rescue Rhode Island (ARRI), the shelter has gone from its location in a barn supported only by volunteers, to the beautiful facility ARRI calls home today. Here, ARRI staff and volunteers continue to care for approximately 35 cats, 20 dogs, and other small animals, such as guinea pigs, at any given time.
Today, ARRI is respected statewide as one of the few, local no-kill shelters. ARRI receives no federal, state, or local funding and depends on private and business donations, grants, sponsorships of our fundraising events, and generous donations from caring individuals! The success of the organization would not be possible without supporters like you!
