Just before adopting Tito, Frannie and her family had been through a tough couple of months. In December, they had to say goodbye to their beloved 16.5-year-old black cat, Kira, due to oral cancer. Just a month later, their 4-year-old white cat, Olaf, who had been battling a heart defect led to another heartbreaking farewell. Their 12-year-old cat, Gouda, remained a constant presence.

In February, Frannie's husband found Tito, on our website. Tito's unique markings and captivating eyes immediately caught their attention. He turned out to be a beautiful blend of Kira's beauty and Olaf's friendly nature, with fur that combined their colors.

Initially shy, Tito spent over a month warming up to his new surroundings. He often sat on Frannie's lap, seeking comfort. Gouda, who had taken two weeks to adjust when first adopted, seemed to understand Tito's need for time.

Now, Tito has settled into his new home, exploring every corner and getting along well with the family's two dogs. His presence has brought joy and healing to Frannie's family, reminding them of the love and companionship their pets provide. 

It's kitten season again, and our shelter is feeling the impact. In just the last 4 weeks, 6 loving mamas in our care have welcomed their adorable babies, and we're overwhelmed with cuteness. Soon, we'll have lots of bellies to fill....

Kitten season is a challenging time for shelters, as the influx of tiny lives means more mouths to feed and more care to provide. We need your help! We have 27 precious kittens now with their moms, and as they grow they'll need to be fed and cared for.

Guinness

ARRI Team,

We chose to rename Taurus to Guinness due to his beautiful black and tan coat. He is settling in pretty well and the wonderful people at Portsmouth Vet Clinic even complemented Guinness for his handsomeness and behavior at his first visit!

We’ve grown to learn that Guinness loves playing tugowar and fetch, chasing birds, and playing with other dogs. He has lots of energy when playing but is always happy to go down for a nap in his kennel. He rarely barks and we are still learning the situations that lead him to. He walks well on the harness with limited distractions and we are working on reactivity to dogs since he just wants to play with everyone. 

We recently moved to San Diego due to military orders, and he did really well on the cross country road trip!

We love adventuring with Guinness and can tell he loves them too. Photos attached!
