From all of us at ARRI, thank you for continuing to make this year wonderful

and for helping us look ahead to an even brighter 2026.

November 2025

Dear Friends,

It’s the season of gratitude, and we have so much to be thankful for.

To date this fall, nearly 100 pets have found loving homes through ARRI. Each adoption is a celebration of hope, healing, and the incredible bond between animals and the families who welcome them into their lives.

As we enter the holiday season, all of us at ARRI are especially grateful for you, our compassionate community. Your support makes it possible for us to care for hundreds of pets each year.  Truly, we couldn’t do it without you.

Please keep ARRI in your year-end giving plans. Your generosity helps ensure that every animal who comes through our doors receives the love, care, and second chance they deserve.

Sending you warm wishes for a joyful Thanksgiving and holiday season!

With gratitude,

Liz Skrobisch
Executive Director

Volunteer Spotlight

Each month, ARRI celebrates a dedicated volunteer who goes above and beyond for our animals. This month, we’re thrilled to highlight Sue, a passionate member of our volunteer team since November 2022.

Sue’s connection to ARRI goes back even further: 14 years ago, she adopted her beloved cat, Milo, from our shelter. Today, she gives back in many ways: walking dogs, socializing with cats, and serving as an event ambassador.

Why do you volunteer at ARRI?

“I love spending time with the animals! Dog walking is so rewarding, but there’s something special about being with the cats. I also enjoy spreading the word about ARRI and the incredible work being done here. When I meet people at the shelter, whether they’re adopting or dropping off donations, and then see them out in the community, it’s a great feeling.”

What’s your favorite part of volunteering?

“My favorite moments are when an animal you might not expect - an older pet or one with health challenges - finds a loving home. Seeing those adoptions happen is the highlight of being part of this organization.”

Sue’s dedication and enthusiasm make a real difference for our animals and our community. Thank you, Sue, for everything you do!

Our next volunteer orientation will be held on Wednesday, January 7th, at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom. Please register for the orientation HERE.

Pet of the Month:

Meet Wiggles:

This happy, high-energy girl is always on the move - tail wagging, body wiggling, and heart bursting with joy. At just a year old, she’s still a pup at heart and would love an active home where she can run, play, and learn.

If you’re looking for a playful companion who has a zest for life, Wiggles might be your perfect match!

Partner Spotlight: Centreville Bank

Centreville Bank continues to support ARRI through volunteerism and sponsorship - and we couldn’t be more grateful! This amazing team has volunteered twice this year to paint, tidy up, and keep our shelter and grounds looking beautiful. Their efforts help create a welcoming space for pets and families alike.

“It’s such a rewarding experience to see firsthand the incredible work ARRI is doing. While volunteering at the shelter, we even witnessed an adoption. What a special moment!”

Norma’s First Holidays:

Norma has brought so much joy into our lives! We’re beyond thankful for her and can’t wait to celebrate our first Thanksgiving and Christmas together.

She adores the kids, especially the baby - and never leaves our side. Norma is the sweetest, most loving companion, and we feel so lucky to have her. She has a basket full of toys, but her favorite is still the purple lizard she got from ARRI!

We even celebrated her first Halloween. She dressed up as the dog from The Nightmare Before Christmas, and it was perfect!

Here’s to a season filled with wagging tails, cozy cuddles, and endless gratitude.

Hammy’s New Beginning

Hammy (formerly Maverick) is settling in beautifully! His big sister Fig has accepted her role, though it took a little time, and now they’re the perfect pair.

Hammy is such a sweet boy, and I feel so lucky to have been chosen to adopt him. Thank you, ARRI, for all that you do to make happy endings like this possible!
